We have transitioned our laying hens from a conventional cage system to a floor system. Our hens arrive at the farm at one day old and are raised on the barn floor until they start to lay eggs. At that time, they are moved into a new barn with laying nests. They have constant access to fresh well water and all-natural feed.
Special care is given to ensure the birds are safe from cannibalism and crowding as these are just a few of the common issues among cage-free birds. Since these hens require more space, we have decreased our flock by two-thirds and therefore our production. We are working diligently to ensure our farm fresh eggs are available to the community while also making sure that our laying hens are happy and healthy.
Our loyal customers stand by the freshness and tastiness of our hand gathered eggs. We appreciate the continued support from our community as we have transitioned to this new system.
